Amethyst

One of the most beautiful varieties of Quartz, occurring in many shades of purple – from dark to heather. Its beautiful color is due to trace amounts of aluminum and iron. The intensity of Amethyst's color can be enhanced through thermal treatment. From Greek, Amethyst means "sober" – the Ancient Greeks drank wine from amethyst cups. A cup filled with pure water would give it the color of real wine. Amethyst is a stone of harmony and relaxation. It restores balance, brings peace, and frees from negative thoughts. The stone has the power to ease conflicts and cleanse spaces.
