A gemstone from the Quartz group with an orange color and a waxy luster. It occurs in many shades, ranging from light to orange-red, and ending in reds and browns. The name Carnelian, referring to the red-orange color, comes from the Latin word – "caro", which means "flesh". Carnelian is opaque, so it is rare to see inclusions, and those that are visible resemble a dot and give it an intense luster. The stones have the ability to exhibit white-blue or green fluorescence under ultraviolet light. The energy of the stone stimulates the appetite for life, calms, improves concentration, and boosts self-confidence.
